Yeah...right...

Look at Gore, the man's the result of a nervous breakdown and has taken to wooing the environmentalcases. Power? He's trying to get the media to empower him. That's not power because media power is temporary and they can take it away at anytime.

Or Dan Quayle? Where's his mantlet of power?
Walter Mondale? Ha!

Zip. Nada.

Cheney just makes the position seem powerful, because he already comes to the office with the power from the corporate side and because he really has this President's ear and is not there for decoration. You think Gore had Clinton's ear? Ha. Lewinsky had more influence. Quayle? Influence? Not in the same hemisphere. Bush Senior and Ronald Reagan? No, Reagan called all the shots and had lunch with him once a week.. Bush did the time and inherited the Presidency after 8 years of weekly lunches!

Most VPs have not a whit of power or influence and simply show up for the debates and spend their term fantasizing about the secret service failing to stop another wanna-be Booth or Oswald or they simply hope they will inherit their party's nomination after the President become ineligible.
