You sit in a theater and let emotions and the cheering audience wash over you while your forebrain sleeps the deep sleep of the innocent. Deep down I suspect you believe that the only reason everything good in life isn't free is because of human greed.

You don't know how the French system works, who pays for what, or what their financial issues are. You don't know what problems they're having with reforms. You don't know how Canada's system is doing, where their costs are heading, and what privatization issues are coming up. You don't know why they pay less for drugs up there, or who is actually picking up the financial slack. Everyone ignores Britain, which is no longer the shining example for socialized health care proponents it once was.

You sure as hell don't know anything about Cuba. The Cubans ran Moore through a Potemkin hospital dog-and-pony show, and you bought it, while Cubans who know better are standing with their jaws hanging open that Americans can be this gullible.

The worst part? Moore is no idiot. He knew damn well the Cubans were showing him a Potemkin hospital while he was filming it, and knew damn well his audience would eat it up regardless. The Cubans knew he knew it, too, and grinned along with him.

I've studied this issue for a long time, Lindy. Believe me, Michael Moore and his atrocious documentary technique are not reliable references in this controversy.
