The latest buzz from the "huge" block of liberal and progressive talk shows (and it's really only being uttered by the real attack dogs such as Mike Malloy) is that the Bush administration has set themselves up with policy directives to create or allow any perceived crisis to enable them to basically take over the government. The wording of these directives does not give clear definition to exactly how much of a crisis it would take and allows for such actions such as cancellation of elections, martial law, and suspension of most Constitutional rights for citizens. They're envisioning that just before the next election a crisis will emerge out of Chertoff's gut feeling and that "El Presidente for Life" will invoke the "nuclear option".

Now I'm not necessarily saying I agree that bunch is so stupid to assume there wouldn't be armed insurrection if such a step were taken and that pitchforks and guillotines might not start appearing on Washington streets but let's just fantasize that the boneheads would actually take that step after a staged or allowed incident.

Where exactly would the loyalties of our remaining Bush administration supporters fall? Would you Tom suddenly start renouncing the government and join us in protest or would you instead take advantage of your loyalty and fall behind the dictatorship in the interests of national security and your own ass? Would you finally admit that the neo-con culture was destroying our country or would you just keep spouting out the talking points?

Now, if you want to participate in this discussion, it will be absolutely chicken-shit for you to just sit back and denounce the conspiracy theorists and attack dogs of the left and avoid the answer. We know damned well how you feel about that so save us the drone. Be a true man or woman and let us know what side you'd fall onto if our Constitution became an overnight victim of fear and revenge. I don't even care if you feel there is zero chance for this ever happening. This is simply brainstorming with the total assumption that it does. If you can't go there then sit out and watch people with "balls" go at it.
