Iron Heel

ER, you make your point very well but I think we're comparing apples and oranges. When you say the Iron Heel coming down I picture troops showing up in your neighborhood holding automatic weapons. Certainly most people would be intimidated by that and think of their family's security first. That's completely understandable.

What I'm talking about though is standing up to that first step when it first rears its ugly head. The disguise is still in place and the people perpetrating the takeover are still smiling through their teeth and reassuring everyone it's all in the best interest of the country. It's that time that the opportunity exists to stop it peaceably before it gets overwhelming. The door must be slammed before the foot gets firmly embedded in it.

Say a national emergency strikes right before an election is scheduled and the White House announces a postponement of the vote. I'm not advocating the pitchforks come out at that time, only that a mass of people take to the streets or start deluging the media and their representatives with a demand to stop ruling by fear. Those remaining 25% that still are sticking with their talking points join the crowds instead of calling them traitors and the calls for impeachment begin in earnest.

Look again at how I began this and you'll see that you're falling for the reframing of the question. I understand that you are putting your toes back in the water here and trying to stem the confrontations but I think you'll find yourself taken advantage of. Just my opinion. I'm really happy to see yours as well.
