re: A new challenge

The wording of these directives does not give clear definition to exactly how much of a crisis it would take and allows for such actions such as cancellation of elections, martial law, and suspension of most Constitutional rights for citizens.

The actual document is here. You are welcome to pick through it and try to find anything remotely related to the dire events you write above. This document supersedes a similar one, PDD 67 ("Enduring Constitutional Government and Continuity of Government") from 1998, which itself superseded NSD 69 ("Enduring Constitutional Government") of June 1992. Similar "Continuity of Government" plans in one form or another go back to at least Eisenhower.

You are getting your information from idiots.

As for your silly question:

You might also ask what I would do if Bush ripped off his mask and turned out to be one of the rat-eating Lizard People from "V"--something equally likely to happen. It's as inane a question as if I were to ask a liberal "would you support Hillary if she made abortion after two children mandatory?"

Why not go the whole route? "Hey, Brosz, would you still support Bush if he started herding Jews into gas chambers?"

Why, no, I wouldn't. Make anyone feel better? Does this actually settle any real questions?

What's funny is that I'm the one accused of being binary in my thinking, but nobody here seems to be able to conceive of the concept of supporting Bush's policies in some areas and not others.

What's also funny is that I was hearing similar dark predictions from right-wing nutballs about Clinton in early 2000.

What's funniest of all was all the "progressives" around the internet who leaped to Hugo Chavez's defense when he actually up and DID what you imagine Bush doing.
