You're seeking approval.
Sure, lots of "sailors" should give you the thumbs up for prostitution.
Reading these lines from your posts make me certain this is not just a philisophical, but rather a personal issue:
"I just ask myself....what if my beloved daughter were a prostitute?"
"I feel I have failed my daughter. Somewhere along the line, break down of communication occured. Her self-worth is wrapped up in how men perceive her. "
If you want support for prostitution you will find it, if you search hard enough. All the Johns who use/have used prostitutes will give you a "progressive" answer or one wrapped up in some form of moral relativity why it's not bad. The same is true for drugs. Just ask a current or an ex-dope user and they'll tell you why it was the system that was mistaken - not them. "Drugs should be legal!" The illegal Mexican who crosses the border will fight tooth and nail to legitimize his/her actions - all are acts of compensation for their own guilt.
Let's break down just what prostitution is again. Sex for cash. The reasons are multitude why such is degrading for both parties. The women/men who do such debase themselves spiritually. Sure we can pretend there is no spirit and that it's purely a material transaction, but that would be a lie.
Everyone who aspires to a family, a marriage or a meaningful relationship will find such disastrously hindered by participating in prostitution. And this applies to the buyers as well as the sellers. It is a HUGE blackeye on self esteem of both parties. The seller feels she/he is too dumb and unworthy to make money in any other fashion and the buyer is too unworthy to receive sex from another human without paying for it.
The worst part - both assumptions are often true.
Such a transaction can never be fully erased. Such acts lie like little festering sores, preventing the participants from ever fully feeling "good" again. The more acts they commit - the more it festers and the lower their self-esteem goes, even if they may do their damnedest to cover it up.
That's why Marcia said the girls ruin their lives. They do. The guys do too. The user is then driven to compensate in some manner. The NY Governor became "tough on crime" to compensate for his own crimes against his wife, children and his position. Public servants are drawn to such often as an act of compensation. GUILT is the sponsor of most escape mechanisms.
The moral relativists are merely covering their own tracks. They will do anything to deny their own festering sores and ill-thought out past actions. They will seek out others to make them feel better about themselves.
Well you wont get that from me.
Prostitution is wrong for all those above a certain level of development and it will be wrong for those less developed folks as well as they pass that threshold.
They have to accept the fact that their actions were unintelligent if they ever want to free themselves of the burden these acts will bear upon them.
Seeking compensation is the first step in the recognition process that one has screwed up - because that huge imbalance is the two ton elephant in the corner and it will not go away.
Understanding why it is wrong and balancing it is the key to resolution and reachieving balance.
Those who respect other humans do not participate in prostitution.
That's why it's wrong. It's a two way act of disrespect.
All those who advocate prostitution or participate in it will have to realize that fact sooner or later on their own.
