The Parents

I live in a very conservative neighbor hood. I live on the Middle Class side. A good percentage of the moms here are stay at home, including my wife. We had to give up a lot of things for her to be a stay-at-home mom, but it is worth it.

On the rich side of this suburb I would say most moms work, so they can afford the bigger house and two new Lexus. Not surprisingly is that their kids have the most problems around here. They do the most drugs, have sex parties, stuff like that.

I am not going to trade my kid’s for material things. I don’t have any toys. Everything I work for goes towards the family. Material things are not worth it. We’ll do with out before we sacrifice our children. It comes back to being responsible.

We protect our kids, but I worry about what society will do from them. The best I can do is teaching them good morals. There Church helps here some, but it is really up to us. They know drugs are wrong (They watch their ex-uncle be destroyed by drugs, so that helped- ex by divorce).

With my daughter, when she comes of age, I plan on usuing the time tested "Cleaning the shotgun when her date comes over" method :)

When my son is old enough in a couple of years, I will teach him that pornography is wrong. I have already being trying to teach him to respect women. He is a good, responsible, kid with a good heat and I worry about the real world and our irresponsible society walking all over him.

Why can’t people be responsible. In our society, the irresponsible get rewarded, and us responsible folks are usually the ones picking up the tab.
