I'm not sure you understand what it's like being an atheist surrounded by people that adhere to a belief that your eternal soul is going to rot in hell and that based on that, somehow or other you're less moral or ethical because you're not a member of their club.

I don't know where you're going or not going. It's not my or anyone else's judgment to make. I've know quite a few atheists who are generous, compassionate people. I've also known some Christians who have no generosity of spirit and no compassion for anyone other than their own co-believers. Which makes them very unChristian.
