re: Dear Eri and Reb,

At sporting events, I have seen people pray for their team to win. What if people on both sides are praying? Does God pick a side? I don’t know. Maybe he is a sports fan LOL.

I do believe that God answers some prayers. I don’t think he answers all prayers. How he picks and chooses is beyond me. I would imagine, like in my example above, he stays out of it. If he knows it will cause harm, he probably doesn’t. If enough people pray about it, maybe that does gets his attention.

As far as death goes. When we die, God still sees us. We still exist to him. So death in his eyes is just us changing forms and coming into his realm. Death in his eyes is not like it is in ours. So he may let some people die, who pray not to, because they would be better off in his realm.

Also, praying for the dead may seem silly, but perhaps they are praying the person’s soul is guided in the right direction, or for the dead’s loved ones to find peace.

Why would the creator of this vast universe even pay attention to us? I think God created this universe so that intelligent life would evolve independent of him. We are a rare thing in this universe. So little of this universes matter is self aware. We are important to God because we are the reason he created this universe.

Wouldn’t God take a Prime Directive approach and not interferer? I think he created us through evolution to form independent from him. He gave us freewill. We can choose him or not choose him. It is our choice. Would he then violate this freewill to help those who pray to him? To his believers, I think he would in some cases.
