REB, I'm not upset with praying. It's scientifically analyzing it that makes me crazy.

These idiots act as if it's some scientific study that you can assign numbers and rules to.

It's a fucking act of faith exactly as you describe it! You state (as you should in my opinion) that you have no idea if it works. Nobody does. Ever. Yet these yokels speak of the analysis of it in absolutes. That's what makes me crazy as it should any person that believes in prayer or doesn't rule it out.

Jerks like the creator of this site make it tough for people like you that legitimately hold beliefs to be taken seriously and need to be called on the table by believers. I'm ok with you believing. I really am. You have never tried to ram your beliefs onto any of us and I deeply respect that. That prayer gives you comfort makes me happy.

But I have to tell you that it worries me that you felt defensive about my outrage. It worries me that humans might be accepting of the obvious bullshit on that page simply because there may be tiny parts of their overall concept that is non-threatening and possible to them. It worries me that people of faith could look at the tragedy of something like Jonestown and still be comforted by the fact that Jim Jones was preaching a form of Christianity.

I get the comfort part of prayer. I used to be a believer. That people pray isn't threatening at all to me as long as they aren't making rules, laws, and foreign policy based on it.

When morons like this start putting rules and calculations onto the concept it becomes absurd. That was my point.
