The damage around the world that governments have done with too much power exceeds that of anything related to private business by hundreds of times. At least.
Think about examples of CEOs abusing power. Now think about examples of government leaders abusing power.
When people think of unrestrained capitalism they often cite the example of the Gilded Age, even though standards of living were improving radically, and people were streaming into the U.S. from all around the world.
Now, what could we cite when talking about about unrestrained governments?
Is it any wonder I worry more about the latter?
The anti-business meme is driven largely by political and cultural sources who would just as soon you thought more about Enron than the history of collectivism.
