The Problem Is Your Definition of Individual Rights

It doesn't include not being taken advantage of in an unequal distribution of power.

I do agree 100% some things are wrong even if 99% vote for it. The problem is there is no better alternative. Balancing individual rights versus the will of the majority which should but doesn't always focus on the rights of individuals is not an easy task. You'd think people would vote on the basis of do onto others as you would have them do unto you, but they don't always. A huge portion vote to get the most out of they system they can and everyone has a different angle. My perspective is the key measures of balance are not stifling the rewards for excelling while not allowing continuous accumulation of power. I think an income distribution is a good thing, but an increasing income gap indicates the system is out of balance. Most people get that our system today is rewarding a few more and more while most are treading water of going down hill. Quaint "Republicanisms like a rising tide lifts all boats" and "supply side economics" have not lived up to their promise and the Republicans are justifiably paying for it big time.

Mark
