Um...you might want to go over that post again.
Obviously it's overkill to claim that government money has never invented anything or cured a disease. A lot of pure research is done at government (taxpayer) expense.
On the quality of life, I agree. It should also be pointed out that a government with enough money to do things like research needs a thriving private sector that generates enough surplus wealth to afford it.
