Re: Clear and Present Danger

Tom, I'm gonna keep this short since we are on page 2 now..

"The most common sign that someone is "trying" to deploy a WMD is a flash and a detonation, or a few hundred thousand people bleeding from their orifices. How did most of us find out that terrorists were "trying" to hijack aircraft and fly them into buildings? "

Tom, I follow your argument, but it does not lead to war, nor is it going to convince the world to at least passively support what we are about to do in Iraq- which is VERY important for the reasons I mentioned. There are any number of nations that have WMD and would love to see us burn. The Soviets used to be among that group. We simply can't go to war with all of them. We simply can't effectively employ this line of reasoning on Iraq but skip it on Libya, Syria etc.

"Quaddafi (sp) had the fear of Allah put into him by Reagan's attacks, and has been pretty quiet ever since. "

Not really, he has just been 'smarter'. He traded his terrorist camps for WMD labs.

"but none of them are trying to build nukes, and one thing at a time"

Tom, Iran is trying and Egypt
has at least played with the neuclear genie. Frankly I fear a vial of tinkered SmallPox more than the Heroshima-sized nuke thes clowns could put togther- In fact (In one of my many incarnations I studied to be a genetic engineer) there are new apparati that will build a first-generation virus with a generic protein coat and SEQUENCED DNA.... Plug-and-Play bioterrorism just around the corner.

And your right, Libya harbored the Lockerbie nutzies all the way into the first years of this century.
