Are we still subjects of the English crown? No? Well I guess we won the Revolutionary War.

Do most of the western states still belong to Mexico? No? Well, I guess we won the Mexican-American war.

Do the Confederate States of America still exist? No? Well, I guess we won the Civil War.

Did we lose the Spanish-American War?

Did we lose in WWI?

Do the Japanese still occupy the Philippines, Guam, China, India, and a host of other Asian nations? No? Well, I guess we won WWII in the Pacific.

Do the Nazis still occupy France, Belgium, Holland, and most of Europe? No? Well, I guess we helped win WWII in Europe, too.

I know that some people believe that any war is a defeat. I will agree that all wars are immoral. However, sometimes a war becomes necessary. We could've stayed out of the fray by refusing to help the British and Russians defeat Hitler, but would that have been a victory?
