Taking one at a time...

(YellowTimes.org) – We have led by example, and now, in Johannesburg, we are leading by obstruction.

At the United Nations World Summit on Sustainable Development, the United States has been far out front in opposing action on renewable energy, prevention of global warming, biodiversity protection, and decent sanitation for people who don't have it. One senior European delegate was dumfounded: "We cannot understand why the United States, being a world leader, is taking such a harsh stance."

Yeah...sure the European delegates can't figure it out. The UN Summit on Sustainable Development is a sham. The bottom line is a Robin Hood redistribution of wealth from the United States to the developing nations, with crazy global tax schemes and every other leftist-thugs fantasy for filling their coffers. The demonizing of consumption based on what I like to call "leftist science" where projections are created and papers written solely to legitimize some asinine assertion from a leftist-socialist group or nation which wants to control the US.

We've gone into how France, Belgium, Germany and other small countries try to exert power and control over the US through the UN, yet the even smaller and more primitive countries are just as active using the UN to siphon the wealth of all the industrialized nations.

It is not surprising the European delegates were "found dumb." After the poor reception the group gave Colin Powell, they betrayed their childlike mentalities and aboriginal development for all to see.

I'm afraid that the answer is a simple one. We and other wealthy nations are committed to the global pyramid scheme we call capitalism.

Let's stop right there.

Where's Joe McCarthy when we need him? The leftists are out of the closets on the streets and now in Kansas too.

Socialism is inherently opposed to freedom. Central control is SLAVERY. All socialist governments on earth are run like slave camps or brothels. Not only that - but it is only in a Capitalistic world that a "summit for biodiversity..insert PC catchphrases here" can even get put on! In a socialized world the planet would be destroyed in a decade. The Europeans pollute like crazy, the Chinese even more so. The Russians have dumped enough nuclear waste to poison the ground water deep in the "stans."

Socialism is ignorance personified. It panders to control freaks and the weak minded who enjoy being controlled as long as they can control others. Homeowners associations boards all across the USA are filled to overflowing with the socialists of their neighborhoods.

That means we are committed to infinite economic growth on a finite planet. And that puts us on a collision course with Mother Nature.

What's this "finite planet" swill? The planet is endlessly regenerating. Everything we use is not gone but returned to the earth in some other form:

We eat...we defecate.
We drink...we urinate.
We cut down - we landfill.

There is no loss of mass or atoms here. Ever. Why is it these folks claim an education and then spout these endless "we are using up the planet's resources" fallacies?"

All life on earth was not dropped off by aliens. That means with our simple atomic elements an infinite number of diverse biological forms can be made manifest. Is it so hard for these folks to see that worlds like this one - are constantly evolving and that our development is part of this world's "natural condition?!"

They speak of humans as if they were dropped out of the sky by alien ships and started devouring a planet which we are foreign to! We ARE the earth! We are water, Iron, lime, calcium and the various elements! We are the manifestation of the highest forms of planetary evolution - and yet some are so unaware and think the planet has some spirit (Gaia perhaps?) and is longing wistfully for the good ol' days of the Pre-Cambrian era! It's truly preposterous!

Oh..oh here come the leftist science citations to try and give validity to his inferiority complex:

A study published last month in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences concluded that human activities worldwide are already overshooting the earth's carrying capacity by 20 percent. The authors put the results in these terms: "It would require 1.2 earths, or one earth for 1.2 years, to regenerate what humanity used in 1999."

Excuse me....what? It would take 1.2 earths to regenerate what humanity used in 1999? We don't need a fraction of the earth to regenerate what we use!
We plant trees to replace what has been cut and we grow and breed animals and protect them so they can be used for food. The oil never disappears. It gets drained out of crankcases and returned to the earth in landfills and chem-sites.

It is clear to me these folks and this author really haven't thought about the fact that NOTHING ever leaves the earth unless we send it out into space. In the truest sense we have only lost the sum of the mass we have shot into space - and even many of the satellites are drawn back over time to the earth as well!

Papers like that are pure tripe. They are bogus political pieces posing as science.

We couldn't use 1/100th of the earth in a year even if the whole world was exactly like the united states! We barely sctratch the topsoil. Our deepest oil wells are but scratches. We never lose a single drop of water!

As recently as 1961, humans had been consuming the resources of only 0.7 earths per year. At that rate of economic growth, we will have to find a second planet in 40 years.

Pure leftist lies! Bald-faced outrageous lies at that!

Let's get on with the political agenda already:

Don't blame it on all those poor people who've been protesting in Johannesburg. While the world's ecological overshoot is 20 percent, Europe's is about 100 and America's is 300. The research group Redefining Progress analyzed the resource use of Sonoma County, California, a haven of recycling and bicycling that ranks among the top 4 percent of America's counties in personal income. It turns out that even the eco-friendly Sonomans live at a level that would require the resources of four earths annually if practiced worldwide.

No.

Oh sorry... my computer has been programmed to filter BS when it reaches excessive quantities.

For a short while, in the long-ago Nineties, we enjoyed the illusion that capitalism could metamorphose into a clean and painless perpetual-motion machine, as it stayed afloat on a flood of words and graphics, data and dollars, electrons and photons.

But photons can only sell an SUV. They can't build one. The market economy - whether it's in a boom or a bust - depends on the consumption of real stuff, and a lot of it.

While accountants were tallying every penny of the vast wealth being "created" in recent years, they left a lot out of the debit column: continued destruction of soil and water, disruption of the climate for decades to come, saturation of the environment with synthetic hormones, and an alarming rate of species extinction.

Sounds like this fellow missed the dot.com rush, missed the boat and is very bitter, so decided to join the Junior Leftists of America and destroy those "wealthy capitalists."

As the dot-com billions appeared and then evaporated, a billion pounds of lead piled up in discarded computers across the country.

DUUUHHHH. Where was that lead before it was in those computers? Oh yeah...the earth.

LJ you really didn't really like this did you? You're just pulling our legs and trying to get our goat right? Right?

Oops... looks like he's losing it even more and going into profuse proletariat mode:

And don't think that managing a pyramid scheme is easy. When he's not busy sabotaging environmental treaties in the name of economic growth, President Bush takes time to denounce corporate excess in accounting and stock trading, each time sending the markets into a tailspin. Greed is both the engine and the Achilles heel of capitalism, and it's hard to fine-tune greed.

Theoretically, we could get the whole earth into the accounting spreadsheets with "green" taxes or credits that force industries and individuals to pay the real cost of environmental destruction and become more efficient. This approach has appeal, but it also has a fatal flaw that's obvious to just about anyone but an economist.

There you have it! The TAX again. Give us LEFTISTS your evil capitalist MONEY! We will restore the earth with it.

Sure.

It is absurd to consider topsoil, water, carbon, carcinogens, amphibians, dumping space or shade trees to be exchangeable with any number of tennis rackets or DVD players. How do you enter into a spreadsheet the current decline or extinction of half of the frog, toad and salamander species around the world?

It's called evolution. Buy some vowels and get a clue. MILLIONS of species are extinct - most of them expired long before man even made an appearance. Who cares? Life keeps evolving. As the highest form of life on earth, the humans are acting out the planet's wishes - WE ARE the planet!

You go cry over a toad. I'll take the DVD player.

Today, corporations get almost free access to the ecosphere. That giveaway needs to be stopped, but not by putting a barcode on nature. To do so would only open more creative avenues of profitable destruction.

Someday, through either foresight or burnout, capitalism will have to be emasculated, downsized and stuffed inside societies that value the health of the planet and the well being of every inhabitant.

No, it won't. Capitalism needs to be made more pervasive - replace communism in China and everywhere the barbaric nations don't use resources as efficiently or as cleanly as we do in the US. It needs to exist to provide jobs, monies and profit to build schools and provide educations for those who want one. Only capitalism can preserve human freedom and only capitalism is a system which will provide adequate healthcare through competition.

A socialist system will reduce lifespans, kill research, dirty the atmosphere and grind progress to a halt. When the earth really needs technocratic development, only under capitalism will such development thrive and continue to make the human condition better.

There you go LJ...hope I made up for Tom's refusal to address the issues. But Tom's right we're not being paid for this. But out of the common need to educate I do this pro-bono for the masses.

;-)
