When resources run out - and I mean all resources, not just easily quantifiable ones - and they will run out - capitalism in it's present "continued growth" form will stop working. The point of the article is that, for growth to continue, an extra planet or few will be needed.

What's so hard to understand about "continued growth has to end sometime"?
