To be honest, my brother was somewhat dismayed when he learned of my intention to emmigrate. His picture of the US was not a pretty one...too many guns, an uncaring healthcare system... other things I've since forgotten.
My continued existence, without once being shot (or pistol-whipped, for that matter) has helped ease some of his concerns.
One of my wife's many skills is nursing, and she's given me a quite favorable view of the US healthcare system. It's not perfect, but it's very far from uncaring.
As I beleive you may have mentioned yourself, LJ, what Canada and the United States share, ultimately, far outweighs our differences.
