Politics has nothing to do with it, Tom. Neither does emotion. It's simply a fact that growth cannot continue indefinitely; nobody can deny that. Therefore it must be limited, either internally or externally. I'd prefer a humanistic, internal solution that respects individual rights and freedoms, but if we can't arrive at that, limits will be imposed, one way or another.
Even the universe is finite.
BTW, I too get choked when "leadership" squanders resources. Squandering anything is for fools.
We only live in the cabin with bears for a few weeks in the summer.
