This is a common theatrical plot device not something I dreamed up on my own to trap you. Want to assume its only fiction and can't happen in real life despite many law enforcement and court rulings otherwise, fine. Lets look at real world history where hundreds of thousands to millions of innocent people were killed on numerous different occasions. Your principle precludes use of any lethal force to stop it even if it is just the life of the leader responsible. Claims of sophistry are the first line of defense against inadequate or unimaginative thinking.

Your claim that by your principle they wouldn't be fighting anyway is silly. Do you claim the world actually lives by your principle? Real principles must deal with the real world not just ideals.

In addition your recommendation proves my point. You would rather make no effort to save an innocent than risk making a mistake. Thus it appears freedom from error is more important to you than trying to make a positive difference in the world.
