re: Black and white

In context, the "with us or against us" quote was regarding policies on terrorism, specifically on sheltering or supporting terrorists vs. working with the United States to eliminate them.

It was directed at nations that pretend friendship or at least neutrality, but either support or ignore terror activities in their own borders. Scott's take on it as a "wakeup call" to nations like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, North Korea, Syria, and others is correct.

In the context of terrorism, while a minority of nations in Europe opposed the war in Iraq (count them), Europe has been doing a superb job of cooperating with American authorities in squashing terror cells, shutting down financial sources, and other anti-terror activities that don't make the news like Iraq does. In the context of the larger war on terror, of which Iraq and Afghanistan are just battles, this makes them "with us."
