re: Don't think so

Real principles must deal with the real world not just ideals.

Oh... then I misunderstood the question.

This is a common theatrical plot device not something I dreamed up on my own to trap you. Want to assume its only fiction and can't happen in real life despite many law enforcement and court rulings otherwise, fine.

Isn't it also true that (unless endangered him/herself), a law enforcement officer will attempt to disrupt the fight and disarm the combatants first? Your "theatrical plot device" - to which I was responding - did not allow that option.

Lets look at real world history where hundreds of thousands to millions of innocent people were killed on numerous different occasions.

Also not in your scenario.

Your principle precludes use of any lethal force to stop it even if it is just the life of the leader responsible.

Your scenario precluded any action but lethal force. Stack the deck and still berate me for drawing the wrong card? Hardly fair.

Your claim that by your principle they wouldn't be fighting anyway is silly.

What I actually said was: By my basic principle, they would not be fighting to the death in the first place. (emphasis added) Go back and look.

Do you claim the world actually lives by your principle?

No - only that it should.
