Good Answers And Point - Moving Ahead of Raoul

I guess my outlook on principles vs ideals isn't universal. Your ideal is certainly an admirable one. My goal here though was for people to present basic guidelines for making moral decisions in a nonideal world. I consider those to be moral principles not the even more basic ideals we wish the world lived by. Ideals do help formulate principles though and they do belong in this debate. Sorry for the unwarranted scorn. I'm not really interested in flaming, just annihilating PC thinking.

Your response to my ethical dilema is off course the correct initial approach and two people living your ideal would never fall into it, but it doesn't always work. It only takes one with evil intent to make that situation a potential unless you consider lethal self defense immoral which your ideal may do. I'm asking you to consider what the right thing to do is when being reasonable and rational fails as it does in the real world. The larger scale scenario is an extension of that same dilemma IMO.
