Because I'm willing to bet that the confrontation with Chris Matthews never would have occurred.

What she said, several times, was "self-inflicted wounds". It has a whole different sound, and a very different meaning to people.

If it were only a slip of the tongue, she could have said, "No, that's not what I meant." The fact that she wanted so desperately to hold on to "self-inflicted" says a lot to me about her.

She was invited, as she herself says, to speak on two segments. Only one was about her book.
