It appears old Zell, a former Marine, was not going to take any crap off of Mathews. Good for him. It's about time someone knocked Mathews down a peg or two. I've heard enough of him to know that his show doesn't have much to offer. Apparently, his low ratings indicate that most other people feel the same way.

Mathews is very quick to interrupt people when he asks them questions. Last week, someone actually did a word count on one of his transcripts and he talked far more than all of his guests put together.

Some people call this "shout journalism". There are several shows that follow this format, including "Hardball", "Hannidy and Colmes", and the "McGlocklin Group" (sp). All of these slows feature too low of a signal-to-noise ratio to be worthwhile, IMO.
