No need to imagine -- that world is right here, in The Habitable Zone.

Thus, your comments about conversation are exceptionally poignant, and Robert's quoting them in the User's Guide could not be more appropriate.

There's too much preaching here, to choirs singing so loudly -- so as to drown out the sound of the other -- that they cannot hear themselves go out of key. To extend the metaphor a little farther, it makes you wonder why the place with the pulpit and the choir loft is called a "sanctuary".

The irony fairly drips from the fact that the most conversation has occured in the space reserved for potshots -- the "Flame" Board -- while Current Events and Off Topic have become firestorms.

And while I'm conversing... thank you, Mary Anne, for this reply.
