good dates and numbers
Look for the 2003 Congressional Budget Office Long Term report on SS (2003, I think), it projects 'worst case' exhaustion at ~2030 and a 'Best Case' exhaustion of ~2060.
BTW, I googled up a 2002 trustees report, interstingly, on 'best case' , pushes back the exhaustion point beyond 70 years from now:
"Based on the low cost assumptions, the trust fund ratio for the DI program increases throughout the long-range projection period, reaching the extremely high level of 1,459 percent for 2077. "
Of course, thats low cost estimates.
also, the 2005CBO report differs from the recent SS trustees report, and from the preznits numbers.
