Do you or don't you benefit from the work that people older than you have done to keep the world you live in fit to live in?
We owe them more than money, but money is all we have to offer.
No one is asking the taxpayers to pay for individual palaces for retired people. Have you looked into living only on Social Security?
If you work all your life -- even if, as many of us of the female gender do, without pay in our own homes at the inconsequential job of raising children -- you ought to be able to spend the years in which you are too old to work in security and dignity without some whippersnapper asserting that you are on the dole.
Means testing? Fine. But don't even begin to suggest that the elderly are unworthy of our support. They supported us.
