Then one doesn't see through the bloodshot eyes of acrimony and hatred generated by years of being on the ever-diminishing left side of the political spectrum seeking both vengeance and vindification.
The list of Bush administration accomplishments is quite clear:
1) Tax cut for most ("rich") Americans.
2) Displacement of the Afghanistan Taliban Government.
3) Displacement of Saddam Hussein and his sons. (with far less than 10,000 US casualties - which was my ballpark figure)
4) Exposure of the huge French/Belgian/German UN Oil for Food Scandal
5) Elimination of Libya's WMD program
6) Development of US military at a pace unseen since the cold war.
7) All time high Russian-US cooperation.
8) Successful development of Homeland Security Department.
9) Prevented ALL major attacks on the US since 9-11-2001
10) Brought India & the US closer together diplomatically
11) Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002
That's the short list that anyone with a bit of news-awareness and foreign policy accumen could create. There is so much more for those with a bit deeper 'insights'.
A) Some GREAT Executive orders.
B) Some GREAT New Satellite Systems.
C) Some GREAT New US military bases.
D) Some GREAT New Intelligence gathering capabilities.
E) Some GREAT (UTT*) Diplomatic breakthroughs.
If I in my wildest dreams imagined ANY of these things (1-11 or A-E)would come about under a Democratic president I would race out and vote Democratic. But the truth is NONE of these things would have been accomplished.
You can keep fantasizing about an impeachment and recapturing congress - but that's all that is - fantasy. Fantasy driven by a desire for vindication. Righting mainly imagined wrongs and injustices. The cheerleaders here for Bush's ouster are from Washington, Oregon, Silicon Valley and ex-Canadians ought to tell you something. Demographically it is the hard left, out of touch, gay marriage supporting, legal marijuana activists whose solution to everything is to tax the rich, support PETA, abolish SUVS, applaud the ACLU and whose actions always bespeak of very irrational and emotional mentalities which, to the average American, seem just a bit unhinged or on the verge of becoming unhinged.
This particular demographic represents about 3% to 6% of American thought, depending on whom you consult. But they sure sound louder and seem larger when their out of touch voices are amplified by the media, don't they?
For the rest of America this same demographic provides that ever so valuable contribution known as 'vitriolic entertainment' - just as it does here.
