New Democrat isn't a new term, it was term Clinton used and used group of Democrats at the time. You could say it was a Democrat response to the Republican Revolution. And another a democratic response at the same time was play to the dem base. Or in other words: appease to wackos. Currently it appears to me that the New Democrat idea has been tossed and feeding the wackos is "in".
