Ah Tom, it's so ironic that you complain that you've never changed any minds. Has your mind ever been changed? Now you seem to be constructing your "we wuz robbed!" story about the media conspiracy that made up all the bad stuff and fooled everybody with their lies. If it weren't for their lies we'd all love Dubya, right?
Someone whose mind is hunkered down behind an impenetrable mental wall really has no grounds for complaint when other people don't listen to you.
That post was a nice example of your mental defenses in action. I wrote about the ideals of the Founders, about individual liberty, about how true free markets, with playing fields undistorted by huge players, are key to individual liberty. I talked about how we can reduce government corruption by instituting truly free markets. I talked about an idea floating around to increase participation in capitalism and give more people access to the American dream of success in business. It's not my idea, and just because I bring it up for discussion doesn't mean I'm advocating it. It was just interesting.
And you come back with a stereotypical rant composed of nothing but cliches about "leftists" and clueless Democrats, implying yet again that I'm advocating Communism.
Maybe I'm guilty of seeing the past through the rose-colored glasses of nostalgia, but the way I remember it, it wasn't always this way. You used to do me the courtesy of reading my posts before posting a rebuttal. And once in a long while, I'm sure of it, we were able to agree on something.
You're right, things have gone downhill here. Escalating partisanship over the years has poisoned the well. But because it's been driven by events in the outside world, the changed political situation out there now represents and opportunity to fix things.
Do you want to just trade rhetorical places, or do something constructive?
