After the debacle of Iraq, the world is now a far, far more dangerous place. We have, in essence, 'blown our lead' in the war on terror, and we now have to play some serious pick up. If you and your kin think our game plan so far has been a resounding success, then This is a serious problem.
This is a myth. Unfortunately, showing it involves discussing alternative paths, and the minute I start doing that, everyone jams their fingers in their ears and starts going "LA LA LA LA LA."
Interestingly, everything I say about where we would be if we had taken another road is dismissed as "fantasy," based on things that can't be proven. However, the assumption that everything would be better now in the Middle East and elsewhere if we had never invaded Iraq is treated as a hard fact, despite being as unproven as any other alternative timeline.
