Apparently, according to Douglas Adams, the whole Earth was created as a quantum computer to calculate the question to the final answer of "42".

Do not be so foolish and arrogant to assume that the Universe was created for YOU.

We are a by-product of the Universe. We may be a step on the way to some useful product but the odds are overwhelmingly against us being "it"...
