I can see a lot of things in my children's eyes, and it changes
depending on how I feel about them at each moment - especially
if they are driving me crazy.
But again, this just proves that people want reality based on their
strong emotional responses about it. You look at your children and
you want them to be special creations of a special creator. You want
the human race to have been made by a god for a grand purpose,
whereas the thought that we may have been just an accident of
existence that has been lucky to stay alive so far can be both
depressing and frightening, depending on how you were raised and
taught to react to such things.
Nothing really wrong with this, it just shows that we are human
and we rely on and are motivated strongly by our feelings. This is
why people have such a hard time with science, but it is the
objectivity of science that helps us to rise above being emotionally
fixated on ideas and things that in the end may leave us going in
circles, rather than moving upward and developing into more
truly enlightening beings.
