That sounds like an interesting read. I always love to read about the astronauts’ experiences. I don’t have many heroes, but I count many of the astronauts as them, especially geologist-astronaut Harrison Schmitt.
I guess the reason why I can’t duplicate the feeling is because I wasn’t trying. It just hit me…caught me off guard. I didn’t think about it. It just happened.
I supposed the best way is to find some dark place on a clear night, like the top of a hill. Have the Milky Way overhead. Get up off the ground on something. Get to where the only thing you can see is the sky. You don’t want a tree or anything in your field of view.
Close your eyes and clear your mind. You don’t want to see constellations because that will distract you.
Open you eyes and just look at the universe. Don’t think about it, just look at it.
Imagine the plane of the Solar System. Look at the Milky Way. Picture the Solar System orbiting the galaxy. Take it all in. You are in space. You are part of the universe.
