As Galileo once allegedly said

The Bible tells people how to go to Heaven, not how the heavens go.

Despite all the crap he went through, Galileo never stopped having faith
in his religion.

Giordano Bruno, on the other hand, totally tried to upset the apple cart,
coming up with some very modern ideas about the Cosmos in the process. Bruno never caved in despite the weight of the Church on
him and was eventually roasted for it - and not in the fun Hollywood way.

Check out this new book on Bruno. I like how it gives one a feel for
Bruno's era and what he probably felt during his definitely not dull life.
