However, I can employ scientific reasoning to determine that it is really, really, astronomically improbable that there is.
The point is that you are technically correct that science does not 'disprove' religion. However- science has either disproved or rendered massively improbable most claims to certain religious knowledge. Its also been the case that not a single causal system or mathematical truth has required the positing of a god, a creator or religious forces.
Right now, if I were a betting man, I wouldn't bet a share of Bear Stearns stock on there being any truth in religious claims about much of anything at all.
Not that I am prone to agree with Post Sputnik, nor his method, nor his bearing, nor an of his claims... But it is the case that science and reason cast significant doubt on the status of religion. I know were supposed to do a graceful respectful bow to religion and coddle the religiously delusional... I know thats PC and expected... But its really a difficult conclusion to escape.
The human race would be better served in casting off its dark-shadowed boogeymen and embracing the mystery and true spiritual awe of the universe with their minds. Therein lays the ultimate adventure of sacred understanding. We don't need faeries and pixiedust. We don't need ignorance and the supernatural to midwife the profound anymore. Thats the message of the enlightenment.
