re: you're years behind the news

I'm behind the news and you give me a new report of 2005.

First, in your reference:
"He added that uncertainties in the methods used for climatic reconstruction underestimate the changeability of climate in the past."

The "recent and dramatic rise" in the graph as in:

"These scientists point to the fact that the recent and dramatic warming trend seen in the chart has been replicated by other teams using different raw data and methodologies."

This isn't Mann's work, instead it is the temperature record from thermometers. Mann's work is tacking these onto other proxy temperatures.
There are large number of temperature reconstruction from proxies. Mann work is a selection of these proxies, statistically adjusting them and splicing to the thermometer temperature record.
So, what not replicated is the method of selection of proxies [did he simply pick those proxy records he liked, and/or corrected or modified those that didn't work as well- or did he apply a rigorous scientific method], what method he used to splice to modern temperature record, and did create artifacts from data [similar to how the "Anomalists" processed pictures by NASA of Mars].
Part of the splicing to the modern temperature record, included the error of using statistic tools that made hockey stick looking graph from random data.

The inescapable fact is that much of Mann's work involves statistics methods and Mann lacks professional statistical training. And Mann refuses to show the methods used to construct the graph- saying he considered it his personal property. This is nonsense.
In a professional peer review, that's exactly what should have been reviewed.

So, with Mann we have incompetence, unprofessional behavior, cover up, peer reviewers that are equally incompetence. Coupled with reporters who, as normal, are clueless.
