What's funny Bowser

is that so often we've heard from the neocons that Islam is an evil religion because, even though some Muslims are peaceful and don't resort to terrorist tactics, they don't have enough public outrage against the worst of their faith. It's a form of tacit approval.

If the same standards are applied to the Republicans, they must therefore own all the excess coming from their most vocal bigots and bullies because they don't condemn them loudly enough.

Of course that's bullshit or we'd have required every German citizen after WWII be executed for the crimes of the Nazis. Obviously they were all guilty because they didn't push back hard enough and prevent Hitler's rise to power.

Once again, the answer's somewhere in the middle. Not every Republican needs to hit the street in protest of the hatred he regurgitates. I'm happy with the fact that a good deal of the party members don't listen to his show or support his sponsors. However, where the culpability falls is in the party faithful that step up daily to the soapbox and refuse to stand up to the man or, if they do, end up backtracking a day or two later. I also take offense at guys like Tom that won't answer a direct question about his abuses.

If you're going to jump onto the internet and post your thoughts and try to persuade others of your philosophy, you have an obligation for the truth in my opinion. Once you cross that threshold of becoming active in the political process, the excuses for looking the other way when members of your sect go over the lines are gone.

Rush and his ilk are guilty not of just being proponents for Conservatism but of out and out lies and distortions and tactics that they know are likely to provoke violent ends. No person interested in politics should ever get a free pass for that style.
