And did you honestly ever believe Al-queida and Al-Sadr were fighting for freeing Iraqis rather than to increase their own power? I can see that being a misguided impression early in the war, but after a relatively few beheadings and murders of innocent Iraqis some "I was wrong" statements were due if truthfullness was truly a top priority for the left.
