ER, we're going to have to part ways here on this issue if what I read from you right now equated the style of a Rush Limbaugh or Ann Coulter with Keith Olbermann or Rachel Maddow.
Although I agree both of the latter personalities use some over-the-top tactics to poke at the other side, there is a huge difference in the amount of truth to their message. I have not once heard anything from either of Olbermann's or Maddow's tirades that wasn't completely grounded in actual facts.
I would prefer as I'm sure you would that there not be a need for a countering balance of showmanship from the left but how could they not? The other side cheated so badly with the corporate control of the news and the distortion of the data that they would have succeeded in their quest for total power had strong personalities with hyperbolic outrage not been employed to snap the country out of their lemming funk.
An Edward R. Murrow would not have pulled in an audience these days no matter how much truth he had on his side. His broadcast would have been the equivalent in ratings to C-Span if he were lucky. Only the most die-hard political junkies would have listened to his droll tones in this day of media hype.
It's a different world ER and I was rejoicing when I saw Olbermann and Maddow begin to steal the stage away from the other side, no matter what their tactics were as long as.....they told the truth.
