Jody, stop it. You just chastised the blowhard Rush Limbaugh and then proceeded to spout one of the talking points he pushes, the very concept of extreme liberalism. I'm sorry Jody but if there's a group in our country today that fits that definition, I challenge you to 1. tell me who the hell they are, 2. Show me what political power they possess, and 3. tell me worst case scenario if they should miraculously gain the upper hand and get their way. What danger are these people to you and your way of life?

Rush and his cretins not only had their way with America for a decade recently but very nearly turned our country into an authoritarian, fundamentally religious, and fascist state and you're putting him up as if he was just some lone voice of extreme countering the hordes of blithering idiots on the far left.

I'm sorry girl but that was hardly the case. The people that held Rush's philosophy and daily spouted his talking points had absolute power and tore our country apart. Your "extreme liberals" (which all I can imagine were some radical environmentalists far removed from power) not only had almost no voice but at the worst were trying to save the Earth and the people around them.

Archie Bunker was a character created by an actor that had no political clout. He wasn't an invited guest to be a keynote speaker for Republican fund raisers. People didn't seriously quote his words. If they did it was to get an uncomfortable laugh. The writers of that show did not create that character to invigorate and empower the racists and rednecks of the country. Archie Bunker was invented to ridicule the type.

I know that you are not part of that extreme of the Republican Party and that on many issues your compassion wins out over hard core conservatism but it's my contention that these horrific people are empowered by people that simply view a person like Rush as just a pendulum swing and don't show outrage. Human beings in a society must get loud and angry when the bullies of either side begin using the dark side of humanity to push their agenda.

Jody, for all intents and purposes there is no significant radical left in our country anymore, at least any group with enough power and money to ever take control. What you're seeing today with a swing to reverse things is, in my opinion, a move back to the middle, back to a time when our country prospered with significant public safety nets and free enterprise was never threatened. Over the past few decades the center line was skewed far to the right and I fully reject that a move back towards what the traditional center used to be is some socialistic takeover.

Imagine had El Rushbo spewed his hatred and bigotry during earlier parts of your life and how the country would have reacted to it. Tell me how someone like Edward R. Murrow would have dealt with the likes of someone like him. How would Walter Cronkite have handled his tirades? Those people are the heroes of my youth Jody and it's valuable to put things again through their eyes. That fat blob wouldn't even have had a microphone. He'd have been tarred and feathered and run out of town.
