What ideas does one have to hold nowadays to be considered a true "lefty?" Actually support the construction of gulags? You can't see how the bar has been moved? You want to go down Lee's list and honestly tick off how many are "moderates?" Is the only criteria now "not being as whacko as PETA?"
Nancy Pelosi, among others on that list, does not hold one economic or political principle that the full-bore socialists of my college days did not hold. Not one.
And please don't drag out "state ownership of the means of production." State control at multiple levels of almost every aspect of the private sector may not be ownership, but it has the same results.
