Well, take away the 'think' and you have a correct definition for the Hzone, at least the 'current vents' page.

Hey, I'll wear smart ass any day, and I'm damn glad not to be a dumb ass or a coward who won't defend his positions with reason and good use of rhetorical technique, formal logic, empirical observation and reference to factual sources.

Your point about Argumentation 501 may indeed be true- but if we are to get anywhere near truth in these debates, or at least 'mosey along' in that direction, shouldn't we force ourselves to use good reasoning process? And if someone trys to debate me and can not be consistent in his logic or consistent with reality in his model/premises or throws fallacious arguments about then OF COURSE I am going to disregard the point he/she is trying to make AND point it out to him/her.

Let me put it this way. Why is it that we don't tolerate pseudoscience like Johannes posts concerning radioactive decay, but we SHOULD tolerate sloppy logic, inconsistent premises, red herrings, ad-hominem attacks and strawmen arguments? Why is it OFFENSIVE to insist that we don't?
