This is Kerry's line not Bush's: "A rush to war without the support of our """allies""""". What alternate universe did you watch the campaign in?
It's been over 200 years since the French were a valuable ally and they've been undercutting the security of the US and the ME over and over for at least the last 2 decades. Russia? get real. Germany? I seem to recall fighting 2 world wars against them. Their leader got elected on an anti-American platform. No, somehow I don't think their opinions should count more than the majority of Americans. Germany and Russia have made great progress over the last century and probably now rate the term ally as much as the French, but that isn't saying much. Consultation and coordination with all three is important, but that was done prior to the war. I think it was very clear their interests were not in ensuring Saddam was not a threat while maintaining a public posture that they were. I've gone over why many times.
Regards,
Mark
