There is no peace possible with terrorists, no agreement, no armistice, no truce.
...The use of force alone will never help us overcome terrorism. There's a power revolution: the most powerful military means are challenged by the smallest instruments. The inconsidered use of force can only reassemble and motivate groups which are dispersed. The use of aimed force is a delusion: the civil population always suffers no matter what technology is used. Martyrs are multiplying, which are new icons for populations deprived of any perspective besides violence.
Okay. No truce. No peace. No agreement. No force. So what the hell ARE we supposed to do? Maybe you didn't get to that part of his essay yet.
Please try to remember that when the 9/11 attack occurred, we had no American armies attacking Muslims anywhere. Zero troops in Afghanistan. Zero troops in Iraq, except the U.N. approved no-fly enforcement.
Had we done nothing at all in response, would we have then been safe from further attacks?
I've already commented on Scott Ritter.
You just aren't being realistic here.
