Good Point But

I wasn't trying to address your points. I was trying to point out that you were being overly harsh in your criticism of Tom for trying to get the ultra-liberals to see where they went wrong. Unless they do the divisiveness will continue. I pointed out in a post of my own what the Republicans need to watch out for to avoid doing the same.

You work with a bunch of highly educated academics RL. I work with highly educated people involved in industry. Which group do you think is more connected to the life of average americans? My boss and I have similar gripes against Bush including the prison scandal, but both thought he was the best choice based primarily on the security issue. I'm not sure wether he sees as high a percentage of errors as me, but he also hoped for a decent alternative to vote for. I know you share some of my gripes with Bush. I'll lay mine out and point out a few things you may not have condsidered.

A poor environmental record - What's the impact of a dirty bomb or actual nuke on our environment?

Healthcare - What's the potential impact of a biological attack on our healthcare system?

Global warming - is a lot less immediate than 911

Tax cuts for the wealthy - They do pay the most taxes so while I disagree they need it I don't consider it a crime to give them one even though I know the recession was a fig leaf.

Conservative social values - I'm concerned about Bush's social agenda, but he obviously has a lot of support. This is a real fight that the Democrats are going to have to accept the potential price of being a minority until they can sway the majority unless they stop placing a high piority on it. I have mixed feelings on some of these issues, but would admire Democrats fighting for their beliefs and not fight them on this if I didn't see them as being clearly wrong on the prime issue of the day.

Regards,
Mark
