re: advanatge nuclear power

the pluses of nuclear energy far outweight the negatives speaking from strictly an economy factor. Cost is the lone yet significant factor in building new facilities right now. In the future fossil fuels may fade from use in the U.S. at least, but fuel is so abundant, it's hard to look elsewhere. Nuclear operators in the U.S. are getting very good running these facilites and until Yucca Mtn is up and running spent fuel is stored safely at each facility. The standard "Sierra Club" line of "conservation" as the cure to our energy problems sounds good, but rings hollow. The world economy has too much momentum to curtail energy consumption, and it's not turning back.
