I am an ex-Sierra Club member. I strongly supported the Sierra Club when it was focused upon wilderness conservation. Then radicals took over and the Sierra Club was redirected towards a "Green" agenda (actually watermellon green). At one time their website advocated opposition to nuclear fusion as a commercial power source (they were actually against a technology that did not yet exist). Obviously this was a knee jerk reaction to the "N" word.

While still a member of the Sierra Club, I argued with the editor of the club's magazine that blind opposition to nuclear energy was not in the best interests of conserving wilderness. It was like trying to teach a pig how to sing (a waste of time and it annoys the pig). Needless to say my op-ed piece was not published.

I hold John Muir in high regard (he founded the Sierra Club and is on the back of the California quarter). If John Muir were alive today, I'm certain he would resign from the club.
