Local governments have been seizing property for turnkey dedevelopment for decades. Its not a new or recent practice. In fact, its how most redevelopment and urban renewal projects are done. The power of imminent domain is used by the government to acquire individual blighted properties, assemble them into a single large parcel and sell the parcel to a private developer to construct, own and operate the project. Its common practice in every large city across the country.
